If you’re like me and love fashion and style, then current trends are something that intrigues you. However, that doesn’t mean every trend fits into your personal wardrobe and style. Below I’ve outlined five of the top spring trends and how you can incorporate them into your look today
Pink is the new black right now. It plays into the whole feminine vibe currently taking over fashion and all shades are welcome. The nice thing about a colour being a trend is that you really get to dictate how you wear it. From a monochrome outfit down to just a pink handbag, you are able to incorporate a lot or a little depending on your taste. Every shade of pink is also not made for everyone. Choosing the right shade for you takes trying things on and experimenting, and if you decide pink isn’t for you, then there are still a lot of other trends you can go for.
The classic, checkered style has made its way back to the scene. Gingham is being seen everywhere from shirts, skirts, dresses and more. Again, this is not a trend for everyone as some people prefer a different type of print, or no prints at all. If you’d like to try out the gingham print, but aren’t sure if it’s right for you, start by incorporating a smaller grid pattern so the print isn’t so large and prominent. If you love it, try it in different colour combinations and go for a head to toe look in a dress or top and bottom two-piece set.
Who can complain about an effortless shoe being in style? The season it’s all about the slide and go shoe and it’s available in a variety of styles ranging from a flat sandal to a block heeled mule. From embellished to plain leather, open-toed to covered, there are so many options right now for you to choose what works best for you and your style. Don’t like the backless look or find it uncomfortable? Don’t worry, casual sneakers are still very much in style.
Straw bags are no longer just for the beach. The spring runways were full of straw and wicker bags incorporating new details like chain straps and leather accents which make them more sophisticated to carry on the streets. Again, this is another trend with so many options and styles that enable you to choose which one best suits you. Designers are having a lot of fun with this trend and you’ll see everything from unique shapes, bright embellishments and a combination of cool materials.
I recently posted about this trend on my Facebook and Instagram page. The button-down menswear staple is getting a feminine upgrade this spring and there are so many fun ways to wear this trend. The top ways we are seeing shirts reworked are through cascading ruffles, unique necklines, bell sleeves, off the shoulder, and voluminous sleeving. Some of these are much more fashion forward than others, but if you’re looking for a way to update your average oxford shirt, try incorporating a small detail such as a bell sleeve or subtle ruffle
These are only five of the Spring trends you will be seeing a lot of this season. If you have more questions about what some of the other trends are, how you can incorporate these into your current wardrobe, or are simply looking for advice on how to refresh your look, I’d be happy to talk with you.
